Hi there! I’m Shirin Maleki, and I’m blending worlds as a UI/UX designer and multimedia visual artist. My adventure in art and design started with my BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I went on to earn my MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke University, where my MFA thesis was featured in the Duke Chronicle.
What do I do? I weave together the threads of my experiences to create digital stories that resonate. Whether it’s through photography, animation, poetry, or crafting seamless user experiences, my work is all about connecting—bringing together the essence of human experience, the whispers of nature, and our shared moments.
Currently, as a PhD student in Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media at North Carolina State University, I’m exploring the mechanisms of immersion in the digital world. My research focuses on how design and narrative can create deeply engaging experiences that go beyond the screen, tapping into the heart of interaction and storytelling.
Out of work, you'll likely find me indulging in my love for pilates, hiking and climbing, experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, or curled up with a good book or podcast. I also cherish my downtime with board games, dissecting films, or enthusiastically starting a new hobby.
As your digital storyteller, I’m here to create experiences that aren’t just seen but felt—bridging the gap between the screen and the heart.
